Causes of Cellulite
Cellulite affects 98 percent of women. Cellulite is a change in the
appearance of the surface of the skin surface. Commonly described as
looking like cottage cheese, cellulite can appear on thin women as well
as obese women. The most common areas to show cellulite is the arms, the
abdomen and the breasts. While the source of cellulite has not been
decisive, the reasoning supported by many in that subcutaneous fat is
more prone to herniation. Poor diet, lack of exercise, sedentary
lifestyle, smoking and stress are poor lifestyle choices that can
increase the appearance of cellulite. Easy lifestyle modifications can
reduce cellulite significantly while improving overall health at the
same time.

The first step toward reducing cellulite is to lose weight in a healthy
manner. Basically ,cellulite is a fat. Crash dieting can be problematic.
The process of losing many pounds quickly only to regain the pounds just
as quickly encourages cellulite. Diet can affect the occurrence of
cellulite too. A diet rich in antioxidants is important for optimal
health. Fruits and vegetables should be consumed because they are low in
fat as well as providing essential nutrients. The best proteins to
consume are fish, chicken, lentils and beans. Food should be enhanced
with herbs and seeds. Red meat, eggs, sugar and salt should be avoided
or at least limited and stay away from caffeine and alcohol as well.
Water is important to flush toxins from the body. It is recommended that
at least two liters of water is consumed daily.
A sedentary lifestyle is also a contributing factor to cellulite. An
exercise program consisting of cardio exercise and well as weight
training is significant for overall good health as well as for the
reduction of cellulite. The cardio workouts should be done for 30 to 60
minutes in length and moderate intensity for 5 days during the week. The
weight training should be done at least twice a week on alternating
days. Exercise is important because it targets the excess fat that
causes cellulite. Exercise also increases blood flow to the skin’s
surface. This has a smoothing effect on the skin. Weight training tones
muscles which can lessen the appearance of cellulite.
Smoking is detrimental in so many ways; it is not surprising that it can
increase the likelihood of cellulite. Smoking constricts the capillaries
thereby weakening the skin. Smoking also harms the connective tissue
that creates the dimpling effect of cellulite.
Tension and stress can also contribute to the formation of cellulite.
They can cause a muscle to be stiff; tension and stress also can stiffen
the connective tissue covering the muscle. If this occurs, waste
elimination and purification are compromised. Exercise can relieve
tension and stress while keeping the connective tissue at its optimal.
Meditation and yoga are excellent exercises that release tension and
stress.
Cellulite is problematic for many women. It has been shown that
lifestyle choices such as poor diet, lack of exercise, smoking and
stress can increase the appearance of cellulite. Easy lifestyle changes
can reduce cellulite significantly while simultaneous improving overall
health.
