Cellulite Treatments Part II
In a world where physical appearance is considered vitally important,
the quest to find a cure for cellulite is ongoing. As such, researchers
in recent years have made great strides and introduced several new,
innovative procedures to reduce or eliminate these lumpy, fatty patches.
Let’s take a look at some of the most promising cellulite treatments on
the market today.
One interesting treatment option is called endermologie. While the
name might sound frightening, this procedure is non-invasive. During an
endermologie session, the patient’s skin is smoothed by a
 motorized
device that both rolls and suctions parts of the body affected by
cellulite. This results in what is known as “deep tissue mobilization.”
Put simply, the stimulation of body tissue encourages the release of
excess fluid and fat cells. As a result, cellulite’s appearance is
reduced and skin appear smoother and tighter. To achieve maximum results
through endermologie, most patients return for seven to eight (and
sometimes up to fourteen) sessions. Although prices vary, most places
will charge $100 to $150 per treatment, making endermologie somewhat
expensive.
In some treatment facilities, endermologie is combined with another
approved cellulite treatment; ultrasound. During an ultrasound
procedure, which takes approximately ten minutes to complete, sound
waves penetrate the skins surface and stimulate deep tissue. Thus, this
treatment works in much the same way as endermologie, but without any
actual contact with the skin.
Based on the same premise as the aforementioned options, electrical
muscle stimulation (EMS) also reduces cellulite by activating deep
muscle tissue. Previously used to reduce blood clotting and reduce
muscle spasms, EMS is relatively new to the cellulite treatment world.
However, it can be a successful way to reduce cellulite’s appearance. To
use EMS devices, which can be purchased for home use, you simply apply
the electrodes to the region affected by cellulite. Once turned on, the
machine will send a mild electrical current to your body. This
subsequently makes muscles contract deep below the surface. The main
flaw with this
treatment is that there is some risk involved. Obviously,
any device that shocks your body can be hazardous if improperly used.
So, do your research and be cautious when working with EMS. Of course,
if all these treatment options sound a bit too uncomfortable, you can
also adopt the standard cellulite reduction procedure; diet and
exercise. Ultimately, cellulite is fat; it’s just located deeper in your
body than usual fatty deposits. To rid yourself of fat, you need to
create a calorie deficit and start shedding pounds. A regular exercise
regimen should help do the trick. You can also use strength training to
build muscle, which will actively burn fat stores for energy. Along with
exercise, diet is vital to fighting cellulite. Not only can eating
healthy reduce fat, but cellulite in particular is exacerbated by
processed foods and chemical compounds.
While none of these methods is a surefire way to eliminate cellulite,
each one shows promise for reducing this problem’s appearance. As such,
they can help improve your physique and your self-esteem. Just be sure
to be safe with every treatment you try, and research possible side
effects for each specific option.
